Intel has been a bit ahead of the curve when it comes to energy conservation efforts, as it has devoted a few million dollars of its annual budget to efficiency efforts for a number of years, and gotten an excellent return from its investments. But the company has also done some basic experimentation with energy technology as well. In the latest instance, the company has put a 10 kilowatt photovoltaic installation on top of one of the parking lots of a datacenter in New Mexico, and will use this structure to dabble in the economics of solar power.
