Search engines have long been able to gather information, but progress has been slow on getting computers to analyze that information and answer factual questions. Mathematica founder Stephen Wolfram wants to change that. He has been hard at work on Wolfram Alpha, a search engine set to debut in May 2009 that aims to take existing data on the Web and come up with new conclusions.
