The Federal Risk and Authoriation Management Program (FedRAMP) will provide dual authorizations between vendors and the federal IT structures in the United States to provide continuous monitoring of shared IT resources for federal agencies engaged with outside vendors. According to one of the creators of the program, Peter Mell, Vice Chairman of the Federal Cloud Computing Advisory Council, the program will create cost savings due to the ability to “piggyback” on certification work that has been undertaken by other government agencies.
