Advanced Micro Devices is expected to steal the limelight at the annual Hot Chips conference in August when it describes two new x86 cores that mark the biggest architectural advance for the company in several years. The event will also host papers on ARM7 extensions for servers, a new integrated SoC for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and two significant chip designs from engineers in China.
