Last week at the ISC Cloud event in Frankfurt, Germany I spent some time talking with Boyd Davis, Vice President of Intel’s Architecture Group. During the conference he presented a session entitled, “Enabling Scalable and Secure Cloud Infrastructures to Meet the Demands of Compute Intensive Workloads” which addressed the issue that, as Boyd put it, in many ways one can (and Intel does) look at HPC as a workload and views cloud as an architecture. Accordingly, the question becomes how do you then drive an HPC workload onto a cloud computing architecture?
