Oracle’s Cloud Experts Gear Up for World Tour
Oracle has announced a fresh round of its global conference series for 2011, which will be focused mainly on providing information and guidance for enterprise IT professionals. The company has been firming up its public and private cloud strategies and has provided a thorough overview of its cloud computing vision in this video.
During the day-long events, which will be held in nearly every major city in the world over the coming year, Oracle states that their cloud “experts will share real-world best practices, reference architectures, detailed customer case studies and more” to help attendees “transform IT into a superior service provider with a strategy and roadmap for building, deploying and managing an enterprise cloud.”
According to Oracle, these events are for those who are either considering a move to a cloud model or who are looking for ways to maximize their current phase of transition.
Chris Kanaracus from IDG news suggested that although Oracle undertook a similar path to touting its cloud computing initiatives last year, this year’s plans are far more ambitious and will “no doubt heavily feature Oracle’s Exalogic application server appliance” which Oracle calls its “cloud in a box” since it provides computational resources elastically to run applications.
Kanaracus also notes that “Oracle has mostly positioned its hardware and software technologies as a unified stack for building private clouds, as opposed to public platforms like Amazon Web Services. Still, the company has recently moved to support some of its software running in production form on AWS, so the cloud tour could focus on those scenarios as well.”
