SANTA CLARA, Calif., Nov. 18 -- Extreme Networks, Inc. is showcasing its high performance, 10 Gigabit Ethernet solutions that help provide customers with a more scalable, resilient, and available network infrastructure for high performance computing and datacenter applications at this week's Supercomputing Conference (SC08), located at the Austin Convention Center, Austin, Texas.
Beginning Tuesday, Extreme Networks is putting its leading-edge datacenter switching solutions into action at the Ethernet Alliance booth #2514. The Ethernet Alliance is hosting a demo network at SC08 featuring leading network vendors and combining emerging 10 Gigabit technologies into a converged Ethernet datacenter.
The demo network showcases how 10 Gigabit Ethernet technologies interoperate and interconnect various network elements, storage solutions and related components. The demo network will host real-world virtualization, storage I/O, IP video, and prioritized network traffic in an Ethernet environment.
"Extreme Networks is playing a key role in this important demonstration of high performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet networking at SC08, revealing the latest innovations of high-speed network solutions," said Harpreet Chadha, senior director of product management for Extreme Networks. "10 Gigabit Ethernet continues to grow in prominence and improve its affordability for the range of applications and high performance computing needs being experienced throughout the globe. The demo network displayed at SC08 will serve as a clear indication of its rapid progress."
Extreme Networks new Summit X650 stackable switch, featuring 32-ports of low-latency 10 Gigabit Ethernet in one rack unit with 10GBASE-T and SFP+ copper and fiber connectivity options, will operate in the Ethernet Alliances demo network. As part of the Ethernet Alliance demo, the 10GBASE-T ports on the Summit X650-24t switch are used to connect with servers over 100 meters of standard Cat6A copper cables. Extreme Networks Versatile Interface Modules (VIM) on the Summit X650 further provides SFP+ based connectivity to the demo network. Summit X350 switches separately provide gigabit copper connectivity for the demo network.
