Tabor Communications Announces Second Annual HPC Horizons Summit

Editor's Note: This press release has been updated and replaces an earlier version originally published Nov. 14, 2008.

Second annual gathering of HPC thought leaders scheduled for September 2009

SAN DIEGO, Dec. 11 -- Tabor Communications, Inc., a leading international media, research, and market intelligence company, today announced the dates and location for its second annual HPC Horizons Summit, a global forum dedicated to advancing the usage of High Productivity Computing.

The 2009 HPC Horizons Summit will take place in September 2009, at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel & Resort, Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The HPC Horizons Summit is a unique leadership event representing the cornerstone of a far-reaching on-line community forum that links a wide range of stakeholders throughout the global HPC ecosystem, from traditional HPC to emerging edge applications, for candid, open discussions of industry direction.

The theme for the 2009 HPC Horizons Summit is "Big Data: Swimming Against A Tsunami."

"HPC Horizons sits at the intersection of traditional and edge HPC, providing visibility into new applications, new use models, and new areas for market expansion," said Debra Goldfarb, CEO of Tabor Communications. "The challenge of managing 'big data' impacts many industries and has become a driving force for the expanded use of HPC. The 2009 Summit will feature speakers with a business perspective on the intersection of traditional and edge HPC, who will share perspectives, concerns and working knowledge in a forward-looking venue, examining emerging architectural and data management considerations for a new world of Big Data. We will also feature a combined end-user and vendor panel, titled "Beyond the Horizon -- Considerations for Big Data," at which we will discuss the Quest for Ultrascale and the applicability and adoption of Grids and Clouds: Internal vs. External and Private vs. Open. We are thrilled to bring such an important topic into the spotlight with our 2009 HPC Horizons Summit."

According to Diane Lieberman, senior vice president and publisher at Tabor Communications, "We have gathered tremendous feedback from last year's Horizons participants and other voices of the HPC community to ensure a 2009 Summit that is spot on with the expectations and information needs of our attendees."

Speakers are now being selected to discuss business, infrastructure and applications in the context of managing "Big Data." HPC Horizons will feature discussions around implementation, use models and benefits in areas such as healthcare, gaming, entertainment, financial services, ultra-scale computing, supply chain analytics, social networking, energy, defense and surveillance.

For information on speaking at the 2nd annual HPC Horizons Summit, contact Mike Bernhardt, Conference Program Director, by email at mike@teamlibra.com, or by phone at (503) 452-0229.

A limited number of HPC Horizons sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, contact Diane Lieberman at diane@taborcommunications.com.
