T-Platforms Showcased HPC Developments at ISC'09


MOSCOW, July 6 -- T-Platforms has become the first ever Russian company to exhibit at the International Supercomputer Conference (ISC'09). The company presented its recently developed platform for petascale supercomputing to be unveiled in greater detail later this week, and signed letters of intent with a number of leading supercomputer centers.

This year's ISC held in Hamburg on July 23-26 became the largest in the event's history, despite the financial crisis. Attended by over 1600 HPC professionals, the conference hosted 120 exhibitors, the number being 25 percent up on the previous year. Alongside with the leading worldwide HPC vendors, Russian-based T-Platforms globally showcased its recent offerings for supercomputing.

At ISC'09, the company for the first time demonstrated the 2nd generation of its custom designed blade platform, developed from the ground up to deliver extreme computing density and scalability for petaflop-sized systems. The new blade is to be officially announced in Russia later this week.

T-Platforms' booth at ISC also featured custom PowerXCell 8i-based platforms, developed with support from the Russian Federal Agency for Science and Innovation, as well as the 1st generation of T-Platforms T-Blade system, which forms basis of the 60TFlosp SKIF MSU supercomputer -- currently the company's largest installation deployed at the Moscow State University.

For T-Platforms, ISC'09 has also become the starting point of negotiations with leading HPC vendors and supercomputing centers, whose interest in the company's offerings was confirmed by a number of signed letters of intent.

"At this year's ISC, the Russian technologies for hi-end computing were globally presented for the first time ever, and managed to generate considerable interest. Both attendees and exhibitors noted that T-Platforms' developments not only stood up to the worldwide competition in terms of technology and innovation, but outperformed it in a number of ways. The feedback we received from the professional community confirms that the Russian technologies for supercomputing comply with industry standards are highly competitive on the worldwide market," said Vsevolod Opanasenko, T-Platforms CEO.

T-Platforms holding is the leading Russian developer and manufacturer of turn-key solutions for high-performance computing. The holding offers a full range of HPC products and services, including access to supercomputers, end-to-end large-scale modeling and simulation, and comprehensive management of customers' supercomputing facilities. T-Platforms is the only Russian vendor to have five in-house developed systems rated in the TOP500 list of the world's most powerful computers. Since 2002 T-Platforms has successfully implemented over 100 HPC projects, delivering the most powerful supercomputers to date in Russia and the CIS countries in 2004, 2007 and 2008.
