Modular FPGA platforms enable high-performance, hardware-accelerated sequence analysis
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 5 -- Pico Computing today announced that it will be showing its latest FPGA acceleration platforms at the Plant and Animal Genome XVIII Conference. The conference is being held on Jan. 9-13, 2010, at the Town and Country Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.
"Pico's scalable FPGA platforms speed the development and deployment of complex bioinformatics algorithms," said Mark Hur, director of sales and marketing at Pico Computing. "Our customers are able to optimize and debug their core algorithms using a single, modestly-sized FPGA device, then scale to multiple FPGAs to achieve the desired levels of performance."
Pico Computing FPGA-based platforms have been shown to provide greater than 5,000x acceleration of bioinformatics algorithms, when compared to running those same algorithms in software-only implementations. Available Pico Computing solutions range from compact, laptop-compatible cards for algorithm development, to large clusters containing as many as 176 high-capacity FPGA devices in a single 4U server chassis. Software and firmware development tools are available, including a C-to-FPGA compiler produced by Impulse Accelerated Technologies.
Pico Computing will demonstrate FPGA-accelerated bioinformatics algorithms at the Plant and Animal Genome Conference exhibit area on Jan. 10-12, booth #426.
