Integration of Voltaire UFM software and Platform LSF enables more efficient management and operations of scale-out HPC centers and cloud implementations
HAMBURG, June 1 -- Voltaire Ltd., a leading provider of scale-out datacenter fabrics, and Platform Computing, the leader in cluster, grid and cloud management software, today announced a partnership to deliver optimized and automated management of datacenter resources, in virtualized and cloud computing environments.
Through the integration of Voltaire Unified Fabric Manager (UFM) software and Platform LSF, intelligent workload scheduling and resource allocation extends from the application layer all the way down to the network fabric layer. The combined solution enables high performance computing, datacenter and cloud computing facilities to more easily support constantly changing resource requirements and workloads inherent in those environments.

The world's largest supercomputers, like Tianhe-2, are great at traditional, compute-intensive HPC workloads, such as simulating atomic decay or modeling tornados. But data-intensive applications--such as mining big data sets for connections--is a different sort of workload, and runs best on a different sort of computer.
