Chief technology officer to address extreme scale-up computing for customer success
FREMONT, Calif., Nov. 8 -- SGI, a trusted leader in technical computing, will showcase its most advanced technology solutions, ranging from the personal supercomputer to its largest scale-up high performance computing (HPC) platform, in booth 3313 at Supercomputing 2010 (SC10), being held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, La., from November 13-19, 2010.
SGI will unveil its next generation hybrid computing platform that delivers a petaflop of performance within a single cabinet, and will also demonstrate Altix UV, the world's fastest, most scalable supercomputer, first announced at Supercomputing 2009.
Other in-booth product demonstrations will include the new SGI Performance Suite and SGI Management Suite; scale-out Altix ICE blade servers and Rackable Rackmount servers; COPAN storage and SGI InfiniteStorage platforms; Octane III, the personal supercomputer; and Cyclone, the world's first large-scale, on-demand cloud computing service specifically dedicated to technical applications.

Dr. Eng Lim Goh, senior vice president and CTO for SGI, will present "Extreme Scale-Up with Intel Nehalem-EX and How Customers Use It for Success" on Tuesday, November 16, at 2:30 p.m. CT in the Intel Theater, located in Intel booth 2813.
Disruptive Technologies Exhibit
SGI will be featured in the "Disruptive Technologies" exhibit located on the exhibit floor. The company will also showcase "Essential Technology for Productivity at Exascale," viewable for the duration of the conference.
Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions (BOFs)
SGI customers NASA Ames Research Center and the Computer Sciences Corporation will present the session "Providing a Universal Performance Measurement Framework for GPCPU" on Wednesday, November 17, from 12:15 - 1:15 p.m. CT in room 282.
The session "User Experiences with SGI Altix UV" hosted by the SGI User Group (SGIUG) will take place Wednesday, November 17, from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. CT in room 393. Early adopters of Altix UV, including the University of Minnesota, NASA Ames Research Center, the University of Tennessee, the Institute of Cancer Research, the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, and the Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center will share results, programming and operating experiences, plus their plans for future projects.
