Xtreme Compute Technologies (XCT) Evolving to Meet the Expanding Demands of the GPU Hybrid High Performance Computing Market in The Cloud

Xtreme Compute Technologies (XCT) Evolving to Meet the Expanding Demands of the GPU Hybrid High Performance Computing Market in The Cloud

Xtreme Compute Technologies, (XCT), a growing provider of hybrid GPU-based solutions across academia, government, and commercial markets, has been working closely with its trusted partners in the HPC arena in migrating these GPU-based HPC solutions from the laboratory research setting into the real world application arena. This initiative is based on the strong belief that the key supporting hardware and software technologies have matured to the critical tipping point where the benefits of hybrid HPC are ready for deployment into a much wider addressable market. In recent years, GPU’s have represented the leading edge of the democratization of HPC and we continue to see this rapid evolution, especially in regards to on-demand delivery of these capabilities through the emergence of Public and Private Cloud Infrastructure deployments.

With its recent announcement of its XtremeReality-Platform, XCT is positioning this solution as the key vehicle for executing on their new strategy.  XR-P is a purpose-built, customizable solution ideally suited to a wide array of HPC applications. These include quantitative analysis, high frequency trading, bimolecular research, digital media production, image analysis and any problem set requiring high core counts through the use of GPU’s in combination with extreme throughput via high-speed SSD modules. Offering the fastest compute and data throughput in the industry, in a flexible insert chassis for scale out and scale up deployments, XR-P delivers limitless performance possibilities across the spectrum of HPC market segments. Drawing on our teams’ and our partner’s years of experience in the HPC arena, our goal with XR-P is to create a solution that can be deployed against the numerous challenges facing the HPC user, be they scientific, quantitative or visual in nature. The primary objective is to create a platform that is capable of seamlessly fitting into the paradigm of shared on-demand Cloud Infrastructure.  We believe we have met and exceeded these goals.  We are currently working on several Private Cloud Infrastructure projects that are nearing deployment with the XR-P solution in a shared resource setting.

Additionally, XCT is working closely with quietPresence, LLC, a wholesale provider of cloud computing services for the federal, telecommunications and high performance computing markets.  XCT and quietPresence are positioning HPC cloud services to meet a wide-range of deployment requirements within the civilian, defense, intelligence, and geospatial application spaces.  By integrating XR-P into their cloud architecture, quietPresence will offer true democratization of HPC capabilities as the government moves aggressively forward on its “Cloud First” initiatives.  Furthermore, quietPresence has targeted the XR-P as a core element in its reference design for its compartmentalized cloud security instrumentation and forensics offering.  The XR-P’s performance is instrumental in providing the real-time security threat analysis, data collection scale and remediation delivered by the quietPresence service.   Expectation is for beta deployment in early Q4 as an on-demand service integrated with the quietPresence Compartmented Cloud™ secure cloud architecture.

XCT will be displaying the new XR-P at the upcoming 2011 High Performance Computing
Linux Financial Markets show on April 4th in New York City.  http://www.flaggmgmt.com/linux/
