HAMBURG, Germany, June 20, 2011 -- NextIO, the premier provider of next-generation I/O consolidation and virtualization solutions, today announced that the company will join NVIDIA, Bright Computing, and the University of Toronto in two educational sessions on GPU consolidation in high-performance computing (HPC) at International Supercomputing (ISC) 2011, Wednesday, June 22. Professor Clinton Groth, Ph.D of the University of Toronto will present "NextIO vCORE Express: A Platform for High-Performance Scientific Computing Research Using Heterogeneous Multi-Processor (News - Alert) Systems at SciNet" during the ISC Exhibitors Forum, Wednesday, June 22 at 12:10 pm.
At ISC, NextIO will showcase their latest vCORE™ Express GPU computing solutions, based on the NVIDIA® Tesla™ 20-series GPUs and designed for the most demanding HPC applications. The NextIO vCORE Express enables customers to run GPUs outside of their servers, providing denser server configurations, easier lifecycle management and a lower overall cost of ownership.

The world's largest supercomputers, like Tianhe-2, are great at traditional, compute-intensive HPC workloads, such as simulating atomic decay or modeling tornados. But data-intensive applications--such as mining big data sets for connections--is a different sort of workload, and runs best on a different sort of computer.

Since going online, researchers have put the incredibly fast I/O to use on a wide variety of workloads, ranging from chemistry to political science.
