AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 9 - The Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at The University of Texas at Austin is one of the leading centers of computational excellence in the United States. The center's mission is to enable discoveries that advance science and society through the application of advanced computing technologies.
At SC12, TACC will present an introduction to Stampede, a Dell-Intel Linux cluster that, when deployed in January 2013, will be one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world and the first to include the Intel Xeon Phi coprocessor at large-scale. TACC experts will lead hands-on demonstrations of Stampede's unique capabilities, and will host discussions with the architects and staff behind the system.
In addition, visitors will have the opportunity to experiment with new tiled-display technologies, interactive data analysis tools and visualization software developed at the center, and to learn about the diverse scientific research enabled by TACC's computational ecosystem.
Presentations in the TACC booth — and in our partners' booths — will highlight the planning and performance of Stampede, the science facilitated by TACC staff and systems (including Ranger, Lonestar, Longhorn, Stallion and Corral) innovations in visualization and HPC software, and solutions to the "data deluge."
Leading computational scientists — including a Gordon Bell prize winner and one of this year's nominees — who use TACC's systems to make discoveries in geoscience, materials science, climate modeling and biophysics will also present their findings and impressions on the state of HPC for science.
From identifying new drugs to modeling hurricanes to making better batteries, TACC systems are used in every field of science, as well as in the arts and humanities. Join us at Booth # 1511 to find out how TACC is "Powering Discoveries that Change the World!"
