SUNNYVALE, Calif. & YOKNEAM, Israel, Dec. 10 – Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions for data center servers and storage systems, today announced that Teradata has chosen its InfiniBand interconnect solution to accelerate the Teradata Aster Big Analytics Appliance. The Teradata Aster Big Analytics Appliance is designed for demanding analytics which require high computational power and the fastest data movement. Assisted by Mellanox InfiniBand, the Teradata appliance offers up to 19 times better data throughput and performs analytics up to 35 times faster than typical off-the-shelf commodity bundles.

Mellanox’s InfiniBand interconnect technology provides greater performance and reduced CPU overhead utilizing Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) technology. Mellanox’s interconnect technologies deployed in the Teradata Aster Big Analytics Appliance include ConnectX®-2 InfiniBand adapters and Mellanox InfiniBand switches, running at 40Gb/s InfiniBand speeds.
