Today, HPC organizations are requiring substantially more floating point performance to solve real-world problems. In this podcast, Ben Bennett, ClearSpeed General Manager, discusses how acceleration technology can improve the overall performance of standard x86-based systems by inserting add-on accelerator cards to run the most computationally-intensive code. The resulting accelerated system has the ability to run more jobs simultaneously, address larger problems with the same resources and complete large problems faster.
Development on ClearSpeed is made easier through a familiar programming environment and the ClearSpeed Visual Profiler, which provides very detailed real time code analysis on the x86 host and through to the individual ClearSpeed Accelerators. It allows users to tune individual areas for performance, profile again and then solve the next issue, providing the steps for fully optimized applications. A 15-year Intel veteran, Ben Bennett was most recently Intel's director of HPC marketing programs functioning in a global role and responsible for the HPC deal pipeline of over $100 million. His expertise ranges from market and technology analysis, commodity processor evangelization and future product definition to organizational and business development and supply chain operations. A 20 year parallel processing veteran, he is also an Advisory Board member for the International Supercomputing Organization.
