CFD models of 100 million+ cells are increasingly common. Models of a billion+ cells are emerging. To meet demand for 10 to 100x larger models, the simulations will have to scale to 10 to 100x more cores. Both compute environment capabilities and capacity must be enhanced. Learn how Cray and ANSYS are scaling production models to 1000s of cores and providing the compute environment to take CFD simulations to the next level of extreme fidelity.

Clusters and workstations are often sized by one-off benchmarking campaigns during tenders, way before production. This method is efficient, but has drawbacks. This webinar will expose HP’s benchmarking method and the principle and benefits of leveraging this method day-to-day production. It will highlight some unique intellectual property, namely HP iLO 4 and HP Cluster Management Utility (CMU), to perform “smart job scheduling”. Register Now.

NFS has been the standard protocol for NAS systems since the 1980s. However, with the explosive growth of Linux clusters running demanding technical computing applications, NFS is no longer sufficient for these big data workloads. After years of development effort, driven by Panasas and others, pNFS is now just around the corner and promises to dramatically improve Linux client I/O performance thanks to its parallel architecture. Watch the on-demand webinar – “pNFS: Are We There Yet?”

Large-scale, worldwide scientific initiatives rely on some cloud-based system to both coordinate efforts and manage computational efforts at peak times that cannot be contained within the combined in-house HPC resources. Last week at Google I/O, Brookhaven National Lab’s Sergey Panitkin discussed the role of the Google Compute Engine in providing computational support to ATLAS, a detector of high-energy particles at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

The study of climate change is one of those scientific problems where it is almost essential to model the entire Earth to attain accurate results and make worthwhile predictions. In an attempt to make climate science more accessible to smaller research facilities, NASA introduced what they call ‘Climate in a Box,’ a system they note acts as a desktop supercomputer.
