SAN DIEGO, Calif., May 14 — Cirrascale Corporation, a premier developer of build-to-order, open architecture blade-based and rackmount computing infrastructure, today announced its partnership with UNICOM Government Incorporated (UGI) to help expand its solutions and capabilities being provided to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) for the Solution for Enterprise-Wide Procurement V (SEWP V) contract.
“Cirrascale is excited to be working closely with UNICOM Government to bring a new approach to handling the increasing high performance computing requirements of federal, state and local government agencies,” said David Driggers, CEO, Cirrascale Corporation. “Our partnership enables us to collaborate on the development of tailored, built-to-order solutions at commodity prices so that these organizations can maximize their overall cost savings in regards to performance per dollar.”
UNICOM Government received contract awards under Category A, Scalable Computer System Group and, Category D, Network Devices, Computer Security Tools and Advanced Video Conference Tools, which expands UGI’s fulfillment capabilities from its previous award under the predecessor contract, SEWP IV. UGI has held one or more NASA SEWP contracts continuously since the first SEWP contract was awarded in 1991. Cirrascale has been selected as a key partner in helping to address new high performance computing solutions for modeling, simulations, computations, virtualization and storage under Category A of the new contract.
“Partnering with Cirrascale has allowed UNICOM Government to offer a unique build to order solution for the SEWP V contract which allows users to implement tailored, integrated solutions with significant computing density while enabling platform and vendor independence,” said Don Upson, Chief Operations Officer of UNICOM Global. “It is a true computing infrastructure that can grow and scale over time, not a box solution that will require ‘forklift’ upgrades as technology changes.”
