BEIJING, China, Dec. 12 — With the theme of “Cloud Now @ China,” 2013 Cloud Valley World opened on December 12, Beijing Time, in Beijing E-Town. The cloud servers, cloud databases, cloud platforms, cloud software and cloud desktops that are the cloud computing innovations and achievements of Cloud Valley and its partners were on display at the event. The event hosted discussions on the beginnings of and innovations in China’s cloud computing industry, current development trends and the path to launching a startup. The discussions included segments entitled “Development Trends for a Worldwide Cloud” and “Independent Innovation for the China Cloud” as part of the Beijing-Silicon Valley Dialogue Summit. The event, which included more than 10 topic forums and press conferences, attracted more than 4,000 guests from within China and abroad and more than 30 companies or startup teams showcasing their products or ideas.

On the morning of the event, CBC Chairman and Cloud Valley Founder Edward Tian, Trend Micro Founder Steve Chang, and Founding Managing Partner of Sequoia Capital China Neil Shen each gave opening speeches. At the “Cloud @ Silicon Valley Cloud World” session chaired by entrepreneur, venture capitalist and author of The Big Data Landscape David Feinleib, Sequoia Capital China’s Neil Shen, along with Mobilelron CEO Bob Tinker, and Evernote Vice President Linda Kozlowski, shared the latest ideas, the most advanced practices and the most notable trends in Silicon Valley. At the “Cloud @ China Unicom Cloud World” session, China Unicom demonstrated how operators can embrace cloud computing as well as the company’s cloud practices and achievements. At the “Cloud @ Cloud Valley World” session, AME Cloud Ventures Managing Director Nick Adams, Morado Ventures Co-Founder Ash Patel, as well as Schneider Electric Global Executive Vice President and President of China Zhu Hai gave keynote speeches. The sessions were followed by a topic forum at which Baidu Cloud chief architect Lin Shiding, Yonyou Software Senior Vice President Xie Zhihua, China Unicom General Manager Lu Yimin, Yoyo Systems CEO Yao Hongyu, and SkyCloud CEO Zhang Fubo made an excellent analysis of cloud computing and big data and defined the future of the cloud.

During the afternoon, five topic forums, “Cloud @ Servers and Datacenters,” “Cloud @ Applications,” “Cloud @ Operators,” “Cloud @ Innovative Force,” and “Cloud @ Software Defined Apps” were held concurrently, where industry leaders, well-known experts and industry users held an in-depth discussion on cloud computing infrastructure, critical technologies, innovative applications and practices in key sectors. At the same time, a product launch, demonstration or technical explanation event was scheduled every half hour. Cloud computing products and innovative applications were on display throughout the day, giving attendees the opportunity to experience the presence of the cloud for themselves.

The China Cloud in E-Town is an important component of Beijing’s cloud computing landscape. Following Cloud Valley’s settling in the development area in August 2010, E-Town has established the Cloud Computing Intellectual Property Innovation Alliance and commenced the construction of China Cloud Industrial Park which will bring together Cloud Valley, Baidu, KDDI, China Telecom, Ruiyun, Centrin Data Systems, BOE, JD.com and LeTV, among other industry leaders, into one location. E-Town has laid a solid foundation for the development of the cloud computing industry with a complete industry chain and a clear industry roadmap. With the implementation of major projects and the realization of ground-breaking innovations, the development area has demonstrated excellent growth momentum and is serving as a benchmark for Beijing’s and even China’s cloud computing industry.

On the heels of 2013 Cloud Valley World, 2013 Zhongguancun Big Data Day will be held on December 13 at Zhongguancun Cloud Square Hotel. With “Guide @ Big Data,” “Policy @ Big Data,” and “Infrastructure @ Big Data” as the main topics, authorDavid Feinleib, along with China Computer Federation Big Data Society deputy secretary-general Pan Zhuting, Chongqing Taiji Industry Group president Liu Huaisong, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China professor Zhou Tao, and Big Data Lab partner Mi Wanjun, among other academics and knowledgeable experts, shared and discussed key issues including big data applications, trends amd innovation as well as data security. The forum then continued with a focus on four topics: “big data @ Internet finance,” “big data @ intelligent hardware,” “big data @ smart city” and “big data @ innovative healthcare,” providing an insight into how companies can seize the opportunity in big data to innovate and transform their business models.

2013 Cloud Valley World was co-organized by the management committee of Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area and Cloud Valley and attended by leaders from China’s cloud computing industry. Cloud Valley serves as China’s cloud computing demonstration base and as the gathering place for the key players across the cloud computing industry chain. For the third consecutive year, Cloud Valley World has brought together the most representative, innovative and thought-provoking professionals in cloud computing from both China and Silicon Valley, making the event an important driver of the development of cloud computing in China.
