March 12 — The Programme Committee has finished reviewing the abstracts submitted to the Community Forum and the conference agenda is now online. The timetable of the event is available through the Community Forum’s Indico pages at: http://go.egi.eu/cf2014
The week-long event will take place at Helsinki University 19-23 May 2014. Online registration is already open at http://cf2014.egi.eu and early-bird discount rates are available until 31 March. The Community Forum will kick off on the Monday with talks from Anita Lehikoinen, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Finland and Thierry van der Pyl, Director “Excellent Science” in DG CONNECT. Van der Pyl’s talk will focus on the policy of the European Commission on distributed systems, while presenting the actions for e-Infrastructures under Horizon 2020 and how the grid community is expected to participate. More information about keynote speakers is available on the conference’s website at http://cf2014.egi.eu.
Tuesday will follow the normal formula of an EGI event with a broad range of topics, all of interest to the community. After the plenary Wednesday morning’s programme shifts the focus, briefly, to posters and networking events. There will be no other sessions running in parallel, maximising interactions and opportunities for collaboration.
To finish off the week Thursday and Friday will concentrate on training events. The range of areas tackled through these will be varied including user-oriented tutorials such as training around data preservation and a workshop on web services for climate data.
The Community Forum social programme starts on Monday with a welcome reception (18:00-20:00) hosted by the vice-rector of Helsinki University at the main conference venue. On the Wednesday evening the conference dinner will take place at Restaurant Wanha Satama (The Old Harbour), a short walk from Helsinki city centre.
The team at EGI.eu, the University of Helsinki and CSC – IT Center for Science Ltd look forward to hosting the EGI community in Helsinki next May. Information about the conference is frequently added to the CF 2014 website http://cf2014.egi.eu
