IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 4 — Solarflare, the leader in application-intelligent networking software and hardware, today announced the appointment of John Hamm — a technology chief executive officer, venture investor, executive coach and business author — to the firm’s Board of Directors.
As a member of Solarflare’s Board of Directors, Hamm brings decades of experience in growing companies, both in executive leadership positions and in serving on boards of Directors. He has served on the boards of Brocade Communications, Documentum (acquired by EMC), IronPort Systems (acquired by Cisco), SiliconStor (acquired by LSI), Truveo (acquired by TWC-AOL) and Webify (acquired by IBM). Hamm has also served as CEO of PonoMusic and Accept Software. He also held senior positions at Western Digital and Adaptec. Hamm started his professional career at Hewlett-Packard. In the venture capital community, Hamm was both a GP at VSP Capital and a venture partner at Redpoint Ventures.
“I enjoy working with companies that are poised for success with high potential leadership teams. Solarflare is delivering the kind of technology that can result in explosive growth,” said Hamm. “They have taken what is traditionally a commodity hardware product — the server adapter — and transformed it into an intelligent I/O platform that can deliver software to accelerate, monitor and secure networks. That’s inspired thinking.”
“At this critical point in Solarflare’s growth, gaining the counsel of someone of John’s caliber will be invaluable,” said Solarflare CEO Russell Stern. “John is sure to be instrumental in advising me and our team as we continue to expand into new markets, developing technology for faster, safer and more reliable high-performance networks.”
Solarflare recently announced their latest network application — Capture SolarSystem — a turnkey software platform that comes pre-configured and performance optimized to run on qualified industry standard servers, transforming Solarflare’s 40Gb Ethernet server adapters into packet capture devices. The distributed, real-time data recording, retention and query provided by Capture SolarSystem represents the critical foundation for cyber threat management, regulatory compliance and business analytics.
