Dec. 15 — The distinguished Gordon Bell prize was presented to a 10-member team for their submission entitled: An Extreme-Scale Implicit Solver for Complex PDEs: Highly Heterogeneous Flow in Earth’s Mantle. The winning team was announced during SC15 in Austin, Texas, USA.
PRACE congratulates the 10 recipients of the Gordon Bell Prize 2015. We would like to highlight that two winning team members – Costas Bekas (IBM) and Alessandro Curioni (IBM) – also won the Gordon Bell Prize 2013 with their team led by Petros Koumoutsakos of ETH Zürich who is currently Vice-Chair of the PRACE SSC. In addition, Alessandro Curioni received core hours in support of his research under the 4th and 5th PRACE Call for Proposals for Project Access.
The list of the five Gordon Bell finalists for 2015 included also two entries from members of the PRACE SSC (Joost VandeVondele and Petros Koumoutsakos). The full Gordon Bell Prize 2015 Press Release can be found here.
