Nov. 24 — Each year these distinguished awards recognize the most outstanding individuals and organizations in the industry as voted for by the readers of HPCwire. This year the innovative European programme for industrial access to leading-edge HPC resources supported by PRACE – PRACE Open R&D – was awarded.
- PRACE Open R&D for Industry was awarded in the category: Readers’ Choice Best HPC Collaboration between Academia and Industry
- PRACE’s Open R&D HPC access program for industrial and scientific projects which so far has awarded more than 50 industrial projects for a total of almost 400 million core hours to close to 40 different companies.

Jürgen Kohler, Chair of the PRACE Industrial Advisory Committee remarked that the uptake of HPC in European industry has been on the rise in recent years and continues to grow. “I am pleased to see that the efforts of PRACE to support HPC in European industry on all levels – from SMEs to large multinationals – is recognised also by the international HPC community,” he added.
Eric Landel, leading expert modelisation and numerical simulation at Renault SAS, France, one of the largest users of HPC through PRACE, commented: “Using PRACE resources allows us to explore our future possibilities, and at the same time measure our internal needs. Numerical simulation represents the largest quote for recruitment at Renault; it is a strategic and prioritised sector.”
