Supermicro Introduces New 1U/2U Ultra SuperServers

SAN JOSE, Calif.Jan. 26 — Super Micro Computer, Inc., a global leader in high-performance, high-efficiency server, storage technology and green computing releases new 1U/2U Ultra Series SuperServers featuring more flexible and high bandwidth I/O in 4x 40G QSFP+, 10G SFP+, 10GBASE-T and 1G configurations. The new servers also increase energy efficiency with an innovative airflow optimized cooling architecture and redundant 1000W Titanium level, high efficiency (96%+) digital power supplies supporting dual Intel Xeon processor E5-2600 v3 up to 160W and beyond. Memory performance has also been enhanced by 14% and new solutions also feature the latest in NVMe technology.

New NVMe enabled Ultra servers deliver up to 7x improved latency and up to 6x increase in bandwidth when compared to current SSD technology. Supermicro is the first to provide true Hot-Swap NVMe drive functionality and will soon offer 10x hot-swap NVMe drive support in 1U and 2x, 4x, 8x or up to 24x hot-swap NVMe support in 2U. Ultra series servers are built on Supermicro’s Building Block Server foundation with 750W, 1KW, and coming 1.6KW or 2KW high efficiency digital power supplies to support Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor and NVIDIA Tesla GPUs for massive parallel processing or any application need. In addition Ultra SuperServers feature tool-less designs for efficient configuration and ease of maintenance.
