Feb. 18 — Key deadlines for the XSEDE14 conference—taking place in Atlanta from July 13-18, 2014, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis—are approaching, including the date at which papers and proposals are due. The XSEDE14 conference will showcase the discoveries, innovations, challenges and achievements of those who utilize and support XSEDE resources and services, as well as other digital resources and services throughout the world. The theme of XSEDE14 is “Engaging Communities,” to engage both traditional users of digital resources and people who have not traditionally used digital resources but would benefit from their usage.
The XSEDE14 Call for Participation is public and can be found at: conferences.xsede.org/xsede14/call-for-participation. Papers and tutorial proposals for the conference are due by March 15. Early registration for the conference and hotel booking availability begins on April 14.

The XSEDE14 conference will also host an all day workshop entitled “reproducibility@XSEDE” on Monday, July 14. The workshop will feature an interactive, open-ended, discussion-oriented agenda focused on reproducibility in large-scale computational science.
Additionally, Tom Lange, Director, Modeling and Simulation, Corporate R&D, from The Procter and Gamble Company has agreed to speak at XSEDE14. P&G is a partner in XSEDE’s “Industry Relations” efforts. As director of R&D, Modeling and Simulation at P&G, Lange currently leads the company’s modeling and simulation efforts, spanning the scales from atoms to the store shelf. Lange will be speaking about the need for computational modeling skills in industry to keep businesses competitive using examples from P&G and their product development.
