Intel Selects SilverStorm as InfiniBand Provider

SilverStorm Technologies, a provider of high performance interconnect solutions for clustered computing, has announced the company's second release of high performance computing recipe documentation to support the Intel Enabled Server Acceleration Alliance (Intel ESAA) program. The new SilverStorm cluster computing interconnect recipes focus on HPC solutions that are fully configured, tested, and supported by SilverStorm and its partners. Intel will distribute the recipes to Intel's global ESAA program OEM channel partners, who will market and sell the supported solutions to end user customers.

ESAA is a collaborative alliance that streamlines technical certification and validation of reliable, high-quality, server solutions to end user customers. ESAA allows Intel OEM partners to quickly deliver pre-configured, trusted solutions to their customers. OEM partners are assured that ESAA solutions consist of equipment and software from Intel-trusted technology partners, and end user customers are assured the whole solution is supported.

SilverStorm is the exclusive InfiniBand provider of Intel, and SilverStorm and Intel are working together on multiple fronts to bring the highest in reliability and performance to their joint customers. Intel operates an HPC benchmark cluster currently listed as one of the most powerful supercomputers in the world. The cluster is built with 256 dual Woodcrest Intel processors and interconnected with SilverStorm InfiniBand infrastructure. This cluster is available to Intel customers for application benchmarking and interoperability testing. Through joint initiatives, SilverStorm and Intel are expanding the reach of HPC by targeting Intel's OEM partners who might not otherwise have the ability or time to certify solutions themselves in this market segment.

"SilverStorm is an active and strategic joint developer with Intel in implementing and supporting the ESAA Program," said David L. Brown, EPSD Marketing Director, Intel. "We find SilverStorm's interconnect solutions to be best in class. Combine this with their dedication in servicing the customer, and you understand why we chose SilverStorm as our developer for InfiniBand based solutions."

The initial HPC recipes published by Intel will consist of 16-, 32-, and 64-node clusters running top-of-the-line Intel processors. For more information about Intel's ESAA program, visit http://www.intel.com/design/servers/esaa/oem.htm.
