BakBone's NetVault: Replicator to provide real-time data replication capabilities for SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS NAS family
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 6 -- SGI today announced that it has entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with BakBone Software. BakBone's replication software, NetVault: Replicator, has been chosen by SGI as the replication technology to power SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS NAS solutions. In addition to the BakBone replication software OEM agreement, SGI EMEA Professional Services is announcing a reseller agreement for BakBone's backup and recovery software, NetVault: Backup.
SGI chose NetVault: Replicator based on BakBone's continued leadership in data protection solutions for Linux environments. BakBone's data protection products offer the broadest Linux capabilities in the storage management market and NetVault: Replicator recently won the Storage Awards'2007 Storage Replication Product of the Year. NetVault: Replicator will offer continuous, byte-level data replication across SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS and heterogeneous IT environments over standard IP networks.
As part of the agreement, SGI will include NetVault: Replicator with each SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS platform shipped worldwide. The agreement will also include:
"BakBone's NetVault: Replicator brings additional out-of-the-box functionality to the SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS NAS solution," said Raj Das, vice president of Storage Marketing, SGI. "By combining a very scalable, standards-based storage platform with an extremely efficient byte-level replication solution, we can provide the much needed functionality, performance and reduced complexity for our business, scientific and digital media customers."
"We are pleased that SGI has chosen NetVault: Replicator as a solution for their customers to easily and cost effectively protect and distribute business critical data stored on SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS platforms," said David Schneider, vice president of Strategic Partners Group, BakBone. "We share a common vision of delivering solutions to the market based on industry standards, such as Linux."
SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS NAS solutions combine high performance and scalability with appliance-like simplicity. Each shared-storage platform efficiently scales in storage capacity, file directory size, and performance by providing base platform options that can support the exponential data growth for today's business and digital media application workload.
Combined with BakBone's NetVault: Replicator functionality, SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS NAS solution solves critical customer needs in areas such as:
NetVault: Replicator is available immediately as part of the SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS NAS family through SGI and SGI authorized resellers worldwide. For more detailed descriptions of the SGI InfiniteStorage NEXIS NAS family, go to www.sgi.com/products/storage/nas/nexis/.
