SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 17 -- Clustercorp today announced the immediate availability of Rocks+ on HP High Performance Computers and Clouds as part of HP's Unified Cluster Portfolio. Rocks+, based on the leading open source Linux cluster distribution, is a complete cluster operating environment suitable for datacenters of all shapes and sizes. Clustercorp is working with HP to make managing clusters and clouds a simple, effective experience.
Rocks+ is the commercial version of the Rocks Cluster Distribution -- an end-to-end cluster operating environment, which manages the operating system, cluster management middleware, libraries, compilers, and monitoring tools; with enterprise-class commercial support from Clustercorp. Available Rocks+ solutions include Rocks+HPC, Rocks+Cloud, and Rocks+Rolls. Rolls include the Intel Roll, PGI Roll, OFED Roll, Moab Roll, LSF Roll, Hybrid Roll, and more. Clustercorp also supports open source Rolls including Torque and Grid Engine.

The architecture includes HP ProLiant and BladeSystem servers based on Intel and AMD processors. It offers a wide variety of cluster interconnects, including Ethernet and InfiniBand, and an integrated selection of cluster management and cloud software products.

Right on schedule, Intel has launched its Xeon 5600 processors, codenamed "Westmere EP." The 5600 represents the 32nm sequel to the Xeon 5500 (Nehalem EP) for dual-socket servers.
