Podcast: Dongarra on Petascale, Exascale Software Challenges

Nicole Hemsoth

On today’s edition of Soundbite, we’ll be talking with someone many of you already know, Dr. Jack Dongarra at the University of Tennesee and Oak Ridge National Lab. He recently presented on the topic of architecture-aware algorithms and software for petascale and exascale computing. We’ll talk about that, as well as what he expects to see on the software front in particular as new systems emerge in the coming years.

For those who wish to learn more about the specific runtimes and software approaches Dr. Dongarra mentions, his slides from the Rice University talk can be found at https://www.dropbox.com/s/dgmjn7x4vcok8dm/rice-0214-2.pdf.
