Podcast: CERN Scientists Seek Accelerated Physics

Nicole Hemsoth

The Large Hadron Collider at CERN is one of the most interesting sites on the planet for exploring physics, but also is a testbed and heavy user of many cutting edge HPC and data-intensive computing technologies. Today we’ll talk about this with Dr. Valerie Halyo an assistant professor of Physics at Princeton University and Paul Lujan post-doc in the physics department as well. We talk about making the decision between GPUs and Xeon Phi, as well as the process of optimization for both to meet the needs of some of the LHC’s most demanding applications.
