The partnership will kick off with Emulex reselling Myricom 10GbE products into selected application domains, but the end game is to go after the high-flying InfiniBand market with products based on Emulex’s Ethernet ASICs and Myricom’s high performance software.
Intel has signed a definitive agreement to acquire switch silicon maker Fulcrum Microsystems. The deal adds Ethernet switch chips to Intel’s growing portfolio of networking products. The agreement, whose terms remain under wraps, was announced on Tuesday.
Pre-standard 40-Gigabit and 100-Gigabit Ethernet products are expected to hit the market later this year.
Looking down the LAN road, the Terabit Ethernet milestone is very much in sight.
