A Unified Platform for Peak Performance at Scale

Nov 3, 2015 |

At all times in the technology industry, new innovations emerge that either disrupt or enhance the capabilities of computer systems. Innovate or be replaced – that’s the ongoing dynamic. In the world of high-end data storage, hyper-convergence is “The Great Unifier,” enabling the full potential of processor, networking and storage technologies to work in concert Read more…

How to Achieve Collaboration and Security in Today’s World

Jun 1, 2015 |

When sharing mission-critical information across storage data networks, enforcing security policies can be surprisingly complex and fall short of the ideal enforcement scenario. The use of an Intelligence Community standards-compliant data storage platform to manage secure access empowers the security administrator to enforce security mission requirements. Managing sensitive information has become a top priority. For Read more…

Tackling Big Data Storage Problems with Site-Wide Storage

May 19, 2014 |

When it comes to storage problems, no one is exempt. The exponential growth of scientific and technical big data is not only having a major impact on HPC storage infrastructures at the world’s largest organizations, but at small-to medium-sized companies as well. The stumbling blocks at large organizations are highly visible. Over the years the Read more…

The Promise of DNA-based Storage

Jan 16, 2014 |

…or How to Put the Internet in a Van… One of the foremost issues facing science and industry today is storing the ever-increasing amounts of data that are created globally. Google’s Eric Schmidt claims that every two days humanity generates as much information as it did from the dawn of civilization up until 2003. There Read more…

Overcoming the Cloud Security Barrier for Financial Services

May 10, 2013 |

The private industry least likely to adopt public cloud services for data storage are financial institutions. Holding the most sensitive and heavily-regulated of data types, personal financial information, banks and similar institutions are mostly moving towards private cloud services – and doing so at great cost.

Reliability Matters – Your HPC Workloads are Thirsty for Enterprise Quality

Nov 12, 2012 |

Is your current HPC data storage solution experiencing issues with disk drives? Are you seeing performance degradation, where HPC projects take longer to complete than they should? Is your performance situation normal, or are there reliable alternatives to achieving sustained performance at large HPC scale?

Architecting HPC Data Storage Solutions

Dec 19, 2011 |

Innovation has been the cornerstone of success in our heritage in the data storage industry for the last twenty-five years.   About two years ago, Xyratex initiated an investigation into additional market opportunities for enterprise class data storage solutions.  Our research yielded interesting data points that aligned with the strengths of Xyratex.  We discovered that not only was the High Performance Computing (HPC) a high growth area for storage, it also represented a dynamic market opportunity with a substantial need for better data storage design. We also learned that the way data storage was being implemented at many of these sites was unduly complicated in terms of initial installation, performance optimization and ongoing management.
