ParAccel, JasperSoft Build High Performance BI Solution

CHICAGO, May 14 -- ParAccel, Inc., provider of the ParAccel Analytic Database, a high-speed, low-effort, columnar database management system, and JasperSoft Corporation, the market leader in open-source business intelligence (BI), today announced a partnership and plans to make available JasperSoft's Business Intelligence Suite for the ParAccel Analytic Database. The joint solution will provide customers with a flexible, open suite of analytic tools that deliver supercomputer-class performance. Customers will be able to perform complex, detailed analysis and reporting on multi-terabyte databases in seconds, leading to improved decision-making capabilities.

"Companies are looking for ways to decrease costs while continuing to innovate and evolve," said Claudia Imhoff, president of Intelligent Solutions. "The combination of a flexible, standards-based BI tool with a powerful cost-effective analytic database is unbeatable."

The ParAccel Analytic Database combines a columnar approach with massively parallel processing and patent-pending performance techniques. The JasperSoft Business Intelligence Suite provides integrated reporting and analysis and data integration so organizations can make faster, better decisions.

"The amount of enterprise data being generated is skyrocketing, and companies are being challenged to deliver information expediently, pervasively and efficiently. They need not only performance, but also tools to help them rapidly develop and flexibly deploy business intelligence capabilities throughout the enterprise," said Kim Stanick, ParAccel vice president of marketing. "JasperSoft's Business Intelligence Suite provides ParAccel customers with a complete set of open, portable BI solutions so they can more effectively deliver analytic and BI capabilities to a broader constituency."

"JasperSoft has been widely known as the leader in embedded and operational open source BI due to our open and pluggable architecture," said Jose Morales, JasperSoft vice president of business development. "Traditional, stand-alone BI is a strategic and fast-growing segment for JasperSoft. The price to performance ratio is a critical factor for our customers, and therefore we are pleased to work with ParAccel due to their superior analytic performance and tremendous value."

Sun's Fortress Language: Parallelism by Default

If anyone knows how to introduce a new programming language, it's Sun Microsystems. The company's highly successful Java language, which was introduced in 1991, has become ubiquitous in network-centric and embedded computing. Today, there's a whole research team at Sun Labs devoted to programming languages, and the big project there in recent years has been the development of the Fortress programming language. The end game is to "do for Fortran what Java did for C."
