TotalView Supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3


TotalView to work with new GCC 4.3 compiler with OpenMP3 conformance

Natick, Mass., Dec. 1 -- TotalView Technologies, a provider of dynamic software analysis tools for serial and parallel codes, today announced that its TotalView source code debugging, analysis and memory error detection tool is now available for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 platform beta. TotalView will provide Red Hat Enterprise Linux users with the ability to rapidly develop, troubleshoot and deploy applications across all industries with the new GCC 4.3 compiler.

The leading open source application platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, has been enhanced with a number of new features and capabilities in the beta of the third version of its release. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 beta includes virtualization enhancements with support for larger x86-64 systems and Intel Extended Page Table, as well as significant cluster improvements, including support for GFS2 and cluster-wide mirroring (RAID-1). This dramatically improves the availability of shared storage environments, and will be of help to customers deploying virtualized environments and using live migration.

"Technology Preview" features not formally supported in the beta but also available for use, include the GCC 4.3 compiler with OpenMP3 conformance, with which TotalView is fully compatible. The beta is available for x86, x86/64, Itanium, IBM POWER and System Z, and will run until January 6, 2009.

TotalView is a comprehensive source code analysis and memory error detection tool that dramatically enhances developer productivity by simplifying the process of debugging parallel, data-intensive, multi-process, multi-threaded or network-distributed applications. Built to handle the complexities of the world's most demanding applications, TotalView offers a number of advanced features that help speed development and eliminate bugs quickly, and provides visibility into thread creation and grouping via a full graphical user interface. The newest TotalView 8.6 release also includes batch debugging with TVScript designed to automate test/verify/debug environments, and remote display debugging to enable developers to use TotalView across machines from any location.

TotalView is currently supported on platforms from Red Hat, Apple, Cray, HP, IBM, Novell, SGI, Sicortex and Sun, as well as on Ubuntu.
