High-tech Capabilities Drive Lab's Ongoing Bandwidth Appetite

Tucked away within the labyrinth of subterranean hallways beneath The Jackson Laboratory is the world's most powerful optical microscope. With it, research scientists here are using laser light to visualize in three dimensions such biomolecular wonders as the structure of genetic material within the nucleus of a single cell. Researchers throughout the world can make use of the instrument, too, as it can be remotely controlled and its imagery distributed digitally to scientists who understand the significance of what they’re seeing.
