Boulder, CO — Tech-X Corporation, developer of high-performance software solutions for science, engineering and education, has received a Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the U.S. Department of Energy.
The project, “High-Performance 3-D Simulation Code for Laser Plasma Accelerators and Plasma Processing of Integrated Circuits, with a Graphical User Interface,” will combine the object-oriented features of C++ with modern parallel computing techniques and state-of-the-art physical algorithms.
The goal is to develop software that can be used to model both plasma processing of integrated circuits and problems of interest to the Department of Energy particle accelerator laboratories.
“Powerful 3-D simulation tools are required to model plasmas for producing computer chips and for designing the next generation of high-energy electron accelerators,” says principal investigator David Bruhwiler. “The software being developed will meet both of these needs through the innovative use of modern programming tools and techniques.”
