NEWS BRIEFS
Houston, TX — Compaq Computer Corporation announced the Compaq Solutions Alliance (CSA) New Technologies Test Drive program, at http://www.testdrive.compaq.com
The New Technologies Test Drive website is the industry’s first program that enables software developers and system integrators to “test drive” not only Compaq’s industry-leading 64-bit Alpha server and industry-leading 32-bit ProLiant server technology, but also other exciting technologies such as Linux and Java online for free.
The New Technologies Test Drive program allows visitors worldwide the opportunity to sample flavors of Linux, work with Compaq’s beta Fortran and beta C for Alpha Linux, or Tru64 UNIX V 5.0. In addition, visitors can sample the power and efficiency of OpenVMS Galaxy, which allows multiple instances of the operating system to run on the same computer.
The CSA New Technologies Test Drive program is also the industry’s only website where Java developers can validate that their applications will run on 64-bit architecture. In the months to come, the New Technologies Test Drive program will expand to include access to additional hardware and software products.
“With Compaq’s New Technologies Test Drive program, I am able to get fast, comprehensive results on server performance for my purchasing decisions, in real-time. The program reduces my risk and accelerates our time to market, like never before,” said Karol Miaskiewicz, Applications and Systems Analyst, National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health.
“Compaq is a leader in technology and the CSA New Technologies Test Drive program further reinforces our commitment to provide independent software vendors (ISVs) with access to the latest tools to help them achieve their e-business solutions”, said Carl Ramsey, Worldwide Director, Compaq Solutions Alliance, Compaq Computer Corporation. “Once this audience has the opportunity to sample the featured technologies, we’re confident they will choose Compaq platforms.”
The Test Drive Program’s Link to the Compaq Solutions Alliance
The CSA New Technologies Test Drive is not designed for benchmark testing of software applications because it hosts multiple requests simultaneously. Software developers interested in full scale benchmarking or application performance testing, are encouraged to join the Compaq Solutions Alliance (CSA), a worldwide partnering program offering members valuable development and marketing benefits throughout the solution development and implementation cycle. Access and unlimited use of the CSA New Technologies Test Drive program is free and visitors interested in accessing additional technical information should subscribe to the Compaq Solutions Alliance (CSA). For full membership benefits, interested software companies, consultants, system integrators and service providers can join the program for $600 (US) per year.
