McLean, VA. — Blueprint Technologies, a leading provider of reusable software solutions for maintaining critical e-business applications, announced that they have been contracted by Celera Genomics, a PE Corporation business, to facilitate design of the software architecture for annotating the human genome.
Blueprint will provide consultation on key technologies such as Software Architecture, Object-Oriented (OO) design, UML and Java.
Through the application of modern software architecture techniques, Blueprint Technologies is helping Celera Genomics extend their high-end scientific products and services through multi-tiered system architectures. Blueprint Technologies is applying OO design and UML skills that will evaluate alternative designs and provide a software blueprint to help guide the systems’ future development.
Specifically, these tools will be used for the annotation, visualization and manipulation of many terabytes of genomic information. The software blueprint will allow for improved understanding and communication about the system design and assist in effectively creating an expanding software development team.
“Celera Genomics uses cutting edge software technology in developing its tools for visualizing and annotating the human genome,” stated Russell Turner, Head of the Visualization Team at Celera Genomics. “Blueprint Technologies’ expertise and solid track record in object-oriented design, UML, Java and visualization will be of importance to our software development projects.”
“We are extremely pleased that a high tech firm, such as Celera Genomics, has recognized Blueprint’s expertise and value of service,” said Blueprint Technologies president and CEO Ralph Alexander. “Our architecture will result in streamlined communication that better utilizes developer resources as well as constructing a software system that is true to its design goals.”
In addition, Blueprint Technologies is providing Java and graphics programming skills to implement the architecture and design of the software system. “Through advanced software development, Celera’s goal is to supply the best tools possible in the hands of our own internal scientists as well as our customers,” adds Turner.
