Manchester, UK — The Sixth European SGI/Cray MPP Workshop will be held in Manchester, UK, on the 7th and 8th of September, 2000. This workshop, generously supported by Silicon Graphics Inc and Cray Inc, is aimed at computer scientists, application developers and end users working on MPP computer systems, such as Cray T3E and large SGI Origin2000 systems, installed throughout Europe.
The workshop will feature key-note presentations by Steve Reinhardt of Silicon Graphics Inc. and Steve Scott of Cray Inc. with contributed papers to be presented at the workshop covering subjects including the following:
– MPP production applications from chemistry, physics, engineering and other fields,
– Parallel programming methods and tools,
– MPP performance analysis and optimisation,
– Parallel numerical algorithms,
– Next-generation MPP hardware and systems.

The Sixth European SGI/Cray MPP Workshop is organized by the Manchester Research Centre for Computational Science (MRCCS), a focus for high performance computing activities at the University of Manchester. The workshop is immediately preceeded by the UKHEC Annual Seminar, “High Performance Computing with Linux”. This one-day event, co-organized by MRCCS, CLRC Daresbury and the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC), will be held at the University of Manchester, UK, on the 6th September 2000.
