San Francisco, CA — TurboLinux, Inc., a high-performance Linux company, announced full availability, training and support services for EnFuzion, its clustering technology that transforms a company’s existing network of Linux, Unix and Microsoft Windows servers and workstations into a supercomputer.
EnFuzion provides companies with a cost-effective, time-efficient way of performing computationally intensive calculations. The software’s ability to manage parallel executions allows hundreds of stand-alone computers to be clustered together to create the power of supercomputers. EnFuzion runs most existing applications without modification, and provides node failover and an automated job scheduler that takes advantage of idle CPU cycles on cluster nodes.
“TurboLinux’s EnFuzion is the first out-of-the-box supercomputing solution of its kind,” said T. Paul Thomas, president and CEO of TurboLinux. “EnFuzion offers companies an enterprise supercomputing solution which easily scales to meet any task.” “Organizations are increasingly using Web server farms or compute server farms to scale up their IT infrastructure along with the more traditional forms of clustering,” said Dan Kusnetzky, Vice President of System Software Research for IDC. “The use of this approach started in the high performance computing community but has spread beyond that community. EnFuzion offers organizations a great deal of flexibility.
Organisations can scale horizontially by adding servers or to scale vertically by adding bigger servers without being forced to decompose their applications to run in parallel.” EnFuzion is an enterprise application which manages heterogeneous networks of Linux, Windows NT and UNIX systems. EnFuzion differs from Beowulf Linux clusters in many ways. Unlike Beowulf, EnFuzion allows most serial applications to run without modifications, greatly simplifying the migration from single-system computing environments to highly scalable, distributed processing parallel computing environments.
EnFuzion is in production use around the world in a range of enterprise applications, including banking, biotechnology, design, finance, manufacturing, operations research, risk management and physics. Customers include AMP Asset Management, Boeing, European Synchroton Facility, JP Morgan, Procter and Gamble, Rockefeller University and Yale University.
Founded in 1992, TurboLinux is a market leader in Linux software clustering solutions and Linux internationalisation, with investment backing from more than 20 global computer companies, including Compaq, Dell, Intel, NEC, Novell, NTT and Oracle. Headquartered near San Francisco with offices around the world, TurboLinux solutions are supported globally by Compaq, Hewlett-Packard and IBM.
