NEWS BRIEFS
Waltham, MASS. — PTC, a leading provider of Collaborative Product Commerce (CPC) solutions, today announced Embraer S.A. (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica), the world’s fourth largest aircraft manufacturer, has signed on as a customer. The initial order was delivered during PTC’s fourth fiscal quarter of 1999 (ended September 30, 1999). An additional order was delivered during PTC’s third fiscal quarter (ended July 1, 2000). The agreement supports PTC’s position as one of the leading software vendors with resources dedicated to the Aerospace industry and transportation design communities. Embraer, located in Brazil, will use DIVISION visualization software, part of the PTC i-Series suite of MCAD solutions, to update and improve its production facilities, and to speed next-generation aircraft to the market. PTC software will be an important component of Embraer’s new Virtual Reality Center. “We have found that virtual prototyping and large-scale visualization significantly reduce time-to-market for new aircraft, and PTC’s DIVISION software is helping us in achieving this,” said Hugo Resende, IPD Process and Technology Development Manager at Embraer.
“PTC’s flexible engineering solutions address the complex design requirements and the large scale needs of the aircraft development industry, bringing considerable competitive advantages to the user,” said Jon Stevenson, executive vice president and general manager, MCAD at PTC. “Such design characteristics were traditionally seen as the stumbling blocks of the industry; PTC’s solutions has turned them into an advantage, allowing for the necessary complexity without the headache. Embraer’s best-of-breed solutions initiative matches ideally with PTC’s commitment to aircraft design technology.”
The agreement with Embraer further enhances PTC’s corporate vision to provide solutions that address the Collaborative Product Commerce (CPC) market by bringing the benefits of flexible engineering, such as knowledge management and rapid response to change, to the aircraft design industry.
