New Orleans, LA — 3Dlabs, Inc. announced that it is continuing to work closely with Intel to integrate native 64-bit OpenGL acceleration on the Intel Itanium processor using the 3Dlabs Oxygen family of workstation graphics boards. Through this close ongoing cooperation, 3Dlabs can now offer an accelerated port of 3Dlabs’ OpenGL ICD on the Intel IA-64 architecture, beginning with the Itanium processor, to provide software developers the industry’s most robust platform for porting professional 3D applications to the new 64-bit processor. 3Dlabs will be demonstrating accelerated OpenGL running on the Intel Itanium processor powered by the new Oxygen GVX420 graphics card, announced in a separate release, on its booth #3029 at the SIGGRAPH exposition in New Orleans, July 25th-27th.
“3Dlabs’ ongoing dedication to developing the best possible accelerated OpenGL drivers for the IA-64 platform is a vital part of our program for the next generation of workstation applications,” said Dennis Goo, director of Digital Media Solutions for Intel. “3Dlabs’ support and assistance has been invaluable, and this early cooperation will put 3Dlabs in a strong position to provide excellent 3D graphics solutions for the rollout of the Itanium processor.”
“3Dlabs enabled Intel at first public demonstration of OpenGL 3D graphics on the Itanium processor and we are delighted to continue as the primary board vendor with accelerated OpenGL support for this exciting new processor,” said Neil Trevett, vice president of marketing at 3Dlabs. “3Dlabs is now working to optimize its entire Oxygen family for the IA-64 architecture to allow us to provide easily the widest range of 64-bit optimized professional graphics solutions in the industry.”
