Dallas, TEXAS — ACS, a leading provider of technology-based solutions to government and commercial clients worldwide, announced that it has won a contract with the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) for the design and implementation of its data warehouse system. This effort is running parallel to the recent win by ACS of the new community college information system.
NCCCS consists of 59 institutions which process more than 750,000 student records annually, and manage over 25,000 full- and part-time staff members. NCCCS collects and analyzes as much data as some major metropolitan areas. Individual community colleges need upgraded information technology systems to manage the institutions’ administration more effectively and provide greater information analysis capabilities. During the past 10 years, NCCCS developed long-range plans for the creation of a comprehensive, fully integrated administrative system of the 21st century, which would support student- centered learning, management decisions, accountability to external constituencies, and business operations for all community colleges.
The NCCCS has critical needs to identify and implement the right technology and business processes to effectively manage its infrastructure. The ACS team will be responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing, in concert with the North Carolina Community Colleges System Central Office, a Data Warehouse System that will provide the framework for decision support, comparative analysis and reporting. Additionally, ACS will be working closely with NCCCS staff to ensure that all users and support staff are fully trained in the use of the new system.
ACS is a leader in providing data warehousing systems. Among ACS’ data warehouse project clients is the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. ACS currently has two data warehouse projects and two decision support systems which support the collection, aggregation and analysis of cases, program and individual benefits for the state’s Medicaid program and the North Carolina Welfare Reform Program.
“This opportunity to assist the NCCCS with a major effort to collect and aggregate community college data to better administer to and assist their student and faculty populations is an exciting and challenging one for us,” said Harvey V. Braswell, President of ACS’ State and Local Government Division. “We already have a strong partnership with the Community College System and look forward to continuing this relationship into the future.”
