NEWS BRIEFS
San Jose, CA — Connex, a developer of scalable Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Networks (SANs), announced that it will present at the annual Fibre Channel Technology Conference, which will take place in San Jose, Calif., October 10-12, 2000.
Robert Wright, Vice President of Software Engineering at Connex, will deliver a presentation entitled, “Managing SANs in a Heterogeneous Environment,” discussing the often cumbersome task of managing SAN components from a variety of vendors. Connex’s latest SAN development, SANavigator, previewed in Monterey at the Network Storage 2000 conference, specifically addresses this challenge. SANavigator’s remote AutoDiscovery of SAN components and SANmap visual technology displays the heterogeneous components of the SAN, so that management of the components is much easier than with other currently available methods. SANavigator also operates as a host for other storage management applications, utilities and tools from vendors such as Gadzoox, Pathlight, Ancor, Brocade, Vixel, Syncsort, Legato and Veritas. Fully interoperable with other storage management applications, SANavigator can be utilized to launch operations such as serverless backup using third-party backup software.
“We are looking forward to Connex’s participation in the conference and to hearing their unique perspective on the rapidly growing network storage market,” said conference Chair Dr. Lance Leventhal. “The industry is eagerly anticipating the development of SAN management applications, such as SANavigator, which effectively plots and administers SAN architectures.”
This year’s conference promises to be vital for companies interested in learning about the factors shaping the development and deployment of Fibre Channel SANs and the trends that will help to maintain a competitive advantage in this arena.
