McLean, VA — Unisys Corporation announced that it has received a contract valued at $6.4 million from the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) to provide hardware maintenance services at DISA Defense Enterprise Computing Centers (DECCs). Under the 50-month competitively awarded contract, Unisys will service the 24 ClearPath Enterprise Servers that DISA acquired from Unisys between August 1998 and February 1999.
Effective August 1, 2000, Unisys will provide predictive, remedial and preventive hardware maintenance services for ClearPath servers located at DISA DECCs in Ogden, Utah, Oklahoma City, Okla., Montgomery, Ala., and San Antonio, Texas. The DISA DECCs provide information systems support to warfighters and others as required by the Department of Defense, under all conditions of peace and war.
“Due to the competitive nature of today’s hardware maintenance environment, we’re excited to have received this award from DISA – one of our long-standing customers,” said Dan Moats, Unisys U.S. Federal Government Group acting vice president and general manager. “Considering the stringent performance requirements necessary to support DISA’s large computing centers, we’re pleased that our engineering team was selected for its breadth and depth of hardware maintenance expertise.”
Unisys will be servicing its ClearPath servers, models HMP IX5600 and HMP IX5800. The ClearPath HMP IX server has a CMOS processing complex that includes Intel Pentium and Customer Enterprise processors – allowing users to run legacy software as well as Microsoft NT and/or Unix operating systems.
