Irvine, CA — The Computer Systems Group (CSG) of Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. (TAIS) unveiled the company’s first storage product line, the Magnia ESA4000. The first in a series of new external storage array systems, the Magnia ESA4000 is a direct attach storage solution developed to meet the industry’s rapidly growing need for data management and information storage. Targeted at medium-to-large businesses, Toshiba’s new storage solution offers an efficient and scalable building block for customers focused on long-term investment, high reliability and performance.
“The new Magnia ESA4000 is an open-standard storage solution that easily adapts to growing business environments and provides customers with the quality and performance they expect from Toshiba,” said Steve Andler, vice president, marketing, Toshiba CSG. “By entering the storage market, Toshiba is continuing to demonstrate its commitment to providing customers with compelling solutions that meet today’s evolving business needs.”
A complement to Toshiba’s rack-mount server lines, namely the new 2U Magnia 3035R, the Magnia ESA4000 features Fibre Channel host attachment and SCSI Channel device compatibility for increased data transfer rates, storage capacity scaling from 90GB to 1.44TB, 10 front accessible, 1.0 or 1.6-inch, hot-swap capable SCSI HDD storage bays, and dual Ultra2 RAID controllers with battery backup.
Equipped with five 18GB or 36GB drives, Toshiba’s new Magnia ESA4000 has an estimated single unit price starting at $24,405 and will be available at the end of the month through Toshiba’s authorized network of resellers and dealers. The Magnia ESA4000 comes with a three-year parts and labor standard warranty, including next-business-day on-site service. If a hardware problem cannot be resolved over the telephone by an InTouch technician, a field engineer is dispatched to the customer’s site to provide on-site service to get the system back up and running quickly. On-site service is available the next business day if the customer’s site is within 60 miles of most major metropolitan areas in the United States.
The Magnia 3030 and 3035R series workgroup and Magnia 5010, 5100 series departmental servers equipped with Intel processors are designed with reliability and manageability features typically reserved for more expensive, enterprise-class offerings, making them ideal for small- to medium-sized businesses by providing features that maximize system performance and uptime. Toshiba’s Magnia 7010 server supports Intel’s Xeon Pentium III processors and provide an ideal solution for mission-critical environments running advanced applications such as data warehousing, database, e-commerce and high-volume business processing. The Magnia 3030, 3035R, 5010, 5100 and 7010 series servers are rack-mountable for multi-server environments.
