San Diego, CA — nStor Technologies, Inc. announced that the U.S. Navy Contracting Office has approved the addition of nStor storage products to the Navy’s Super-Minicomputer Program (SMP), a contract that facilitates the purchase of midrange systems and storage by Department of Defense (DOD) customers.
nStor will provide its products through PRC Inc., a subsidiary of Litton Industries. Litton PRC has provided information technology services to businesses and government for over 40 years, and has already delivered nearly $1 Billion in products and services to thousands of DOD customers under the SMP.
“The addition of nStor storage technology to the Navy’s Super-Minicomputer Program provides an excellent opportunity for nStor to dramatically increase its sales to the Federal Government,” commented David Tweed, nStor vice president for Solution Sales. “We are excited about working with Litton PRC and believe our Fibre Channel storage solutions will provide the Navy with sound building blocks for next-generation storage systems.”
“Litton PRC is pleased to have nStor’s Fibre Channel storage enclosures and RAID systems as part of the SMP,” stated Gary Biddle, Litton PRC director of Sales. “These high-density products should be especially well received by the Navy because they are frequently constrained by the amount of physical space a solution can occupy.” nStor Fibre Channel Storage Systems nStor products added to the SMP include the complete line of NexStor Fibre Channel storage enclosures and RAID subsystems, as well as tape backup solutions offered by nStor. Historically, NexStor products are tested and proven systems that are installed in over 15,000 customer locations around the world and have garnered numerous awards for their performance and engineering.
Typical of nStor’s innovative design is the revolutionary NexStor 3150F. The NexStor 3150F is a 2U (3.5″) high, 8-drive storage enclosure that features active/active Fibre Channel RAID support. nStor’s patent-pending cooling design provides support for 7,200 RPM and 10,000 RPM disk drives, as well as support for higher performance drives as they become available. For multi-terabyte configurations, up to 15 NexStor 802F storage expansion enclosures can be added to the NexStor 3150 using the unit’s embedded dual active Fibre hubs for a total of 9.1TB of storage capacity in a space only 56″ high!
“We now have contract vehicles that allow us to pursue larger opportunities in the Federal Government while substantially reducing the customer’s effort and the paper work required to purchase our products,” stated Corey Preville, nStor Eastern Regional Manager responsible for Federal Government sales. “In addition to the SMP contract, our products are on the GSA schedule and the SEWP, a Civilian Agency contract sponsored by NASA. The inclusion of nStor products and SAN services on these major contracts has positioned us to improve our value as a leading storage provider to the Federal Government.”
