St. Louis, MO. — Unigraphics Solutions Inc. announces the signing of a contract, worth nearly one million dollars, with the Manzoni Group, a leading Italian company in the mechanical and hydraulic press market. Based in Bergamo, Italy, the Manzoni Group will work with UGS over the next three years to implement several licenses of Unigraphics, UGS’ integrated CAD/CAM/CAE software suite. The implementation will take place at all five companies comprising the Group: Manzoni Presse, Rovetta Presse, Benelli Presse, Emanuel Presse and Innse Presse.
A selection committee, consisting of four technical managers from the various companies within the group, performed a comprehensive evaluation of several mid-range and high-end CAD software solutions. Their objectives included obtaining the ability to create a virtual prototype of their products by making an effective transition from 2-D to 3-D CAD and developing a new systematic approach to product design. They subsequently chose Unigraphics based on the software’s ability to effectively meet the Group’s objectives using UG/WAVE technology.
UG/WAVE is a technology imbedded in Unigraphics that makes it possible for the Group to define families of ideal presses with a top-down approach to product development. The company can then select the optimum product from among these families and quickly configure the finished design.
“After carefully screening the possibilities offered by the market, we were confident that Unigraphics Solutions, with its high-end Unigraphics software, was the company that would enable us to achieve our objectives,” says Graziano Mazzucotelli, deputy chairman of Internal Affairs for the Manzoni Group. “UGS evaluated our needs correctly and created a vision of success and renewal for us.”
“During the negotiations, in addition to being judged from the technical point of view, UGS was also carefully evaluated according to the degree of support the company would be able to offer,” says Antonio Martinelli, Lombardia regional manager, Unigraphics Solutions. “We responded to the customers’ requirements, and they appreciated our pragmatic and strategic approach to their expectations.”
“I congratulate the Unigraphics Solutions team for its professionalism,” says Alessandro Manzoni, deputy chairman of External Affairs for the Manzoni Group. “They worked very well with our personnel, and showed a great desire to partner with our organization.”
“The Manzoni Group is experiencing significant growth and fierce competition from within its sector,” says Gian Cristoforo Bozano, country manager for Italy, Unigraphics Solutions. “We analyzed their needs, then interpreted and highlighted the most appropriate solutions offered by UGS. This enabled us to successfully compete and win against our most significant competitors. It is a great honor for us to have been chosen by a market leader such as the Manzoni Group.”
The Manzoni Group is the leading Italian manufacturer of systems for forming metal.
