Burllingame, CALIF. — ANTs software.com announced that tests only recently completed have demonstrated at least a 2,000% increase in speed over a leading relational database management system (RDBMS). When higher loads are available to be placed on the ANTs system, the Company expects even greater performance differences will be shown versus the RDBMS used in these tests. Similar results, once ANTs is fully stressed, are expected to be shown versus other leading RDBMS providers.
A “shopping cart” e-commerce site received simulated purchase orders from load generators, checked the relevant inventories, and either fulfilled orders or back ordered inventory items no longer available. The tests were constructed so that an increasing number of orders flooded the site. Monitoring devices tracked the numbers of transactions per second that were handled to determine if and when processing reached its limits during the testing of the two systems.
Frederick D. Pettit, Chief Executive Officer, said, “The prototype web site application selected data, acted upon that data, updated the data record, and carried out fulfillment activities. These operations are at the core of what computers spend most of their time doing. The comparative results of ANTs’ performance versus a leading RDBMS used during these tests were truly remarkable. We do not yet know the limits of our technologies, but we believe we have clear evidence that they will lead to major acceleration in existing database management and transaction processing systems.”
Dr. Thomas O. Binford, Executive Vice President of Research & Development, said, “The RDBMS system used in these tests was able to process approximately 250 transactions per second at its processing limit. The ANTs server processed over 5,000 transactions per second, which is better than 2,000% faster. The limits of our technologies were not approached in this series of tests.”
Clifford Hersh, Chief Scientist, said, “The Company is arranging for enough in-house load generating capacity to conduct further tests that will find the present limits of our software. We expect these limits to be well beyond what we have proven today. As we have said in the past, we are designing our technologies to allow customers’ existing systems to run faster, more reliably, with previously unimagined scalability, and with minimal installation requirements. They will be `plug compatible’ with the applications they accelerate and with currently leading database systems. We want customers to be able to employ ANTs transparently, without having to change their business practices or discard their software investments.”
Referring to the Company’s commercialization plans, Pettit concluded by saying, “With the completion of this landmark set of tests, we believe we are on track to generate revenues from ANTs’ technologies in the second half of next year. Our technologies show particular promise for such applications as credit card authorizations, inventory management systems, ERP, e-commerce and B2B. We continue to work with leading multinational companies to determine their requirements and meet their specifications. We expect that close cooperation with these early adopters will sharpen our ability to service the needs of the very large customers who comprise our initial target market.”
The technical specifications of the Company’s prototype web site testing system will be made available shortly and will be posted on the Company’s web site.
ANTs software.com is a development stage company. The Company seeks to become the leader in performance enhancement software and services for enterprise computing, based on its proprietary software technology. ANTs is an enabling middleware technology that is being developed to readily interact with applications such as stand-alone credit card processing, general ledger and inventory systems, as well as more comprehensive ERP, e-commerce, and B2B systems. The objective is to radically improve application and database performance. The Company’s corporate offices are located at 801 Mahler Road, Burlingame, California.
